I had wanted to pop the question for awhile now and woke up that day to a cold sweat. It was about 5:00 a.m. Not an unusual time for me to get up, except for IT WAS A SATURDAY! For some reason I had a strange feeling the ring was the wrong size. Don't ask me why, I thought I had this part nailed down. I mean, how could one screw that up? I decided to run some "errands". My sole intention to go back to the Jeweler to get the ring sized. I got in my car, drove up to the Jewelry store and to my surprise&the shop was closed! I mean, I was shocked! Shouldn't every jewelry store be open at 5:30 a.m. on a Saturday? So what is a grown man to do now? You guessed it - call his mom! My mom calmed me down. When I returned home, I started working on the basement. Krista knew that I had wanted to go for a hike in the mountains so at 11 a.m. I dropped what I was doing and said, "let's go for a hike!" We drove up to the place I had scoped out weeks before.
Krista and I ate lunch. Well, she ate lunch and I made it look like I was eating mine. I couldn't get anything down. I took a deep breath and told her I had something special for her. It was our 5th year anniversary and she started crying at this point. I thought, boy, this is going to be cake!! I gave her tickets to the theater for our anniversary then got down on one knee. I popped the question, she said yes, and then we popped the cork on a bottle of Champagne.
We then drove back to the house where I had set up all of our closest friends in Denver to be there. We walked into the house and Krista screamed, then her girlfriends screamed because they saw the ring, Krista screamed again, nearly fell down, more girls screamed. I figured what the heck, I'll scream too. More screaming! It was perfect. After that we headed downtown for dinner and the theater. All in all, I think it worked out pretty good.
